Immersion Burns – Line of immersion is a well-defined, almost hairline delineation indicating depth to
which extremity or body part was immersed. There is generally uniformity to the burn.

Cigarette Burns – Round and deep with some charring around the edges. More than one burn at
various stages of healing may be present.

Object Burns – Irregular shapes, deeper, outline of the object is clearer on the edges. Generally
caused by cigarette lighters, steam irons, knives, forks, griddles, hot plates, light bulbs, curling irons.
